Saturday 28th October

Francois, Tony and a very excited, nervous, anxious Jess headed off to Menjangan Island to go diving. The rest of us headed to the beach, only two days left before we moved on – needed to enjoy the last few days.

Rented snorkelling gear again, wanted to head out and find the Buddha statue in the lotus flower that everyone was on about. Found it and yes, twas very pretty and home of lots of clownfish. Gorgeous!

More pre-dinner drinks on the veranda, tonight would be the last night we could commandeer Francois’ couch as he is heading home tomorrow so we’ll need to return it for the new guests.

There had been talk of ordering a suckling pig for his last night, however we were not able to get enough numbers to go for that idea. Instead we headed back to the nice restaurant that served the aesthetically pleasing plates. I had an amazing pork satay, it was fabulous to look at, and tasty as well. In fairness I haven’t had a really bad meal on the trip so far – touch wood. That being said, Tony ordered some Red Snapper and was given a scrawny fish with hardly any meat at all. Bit disappointing.

A group of ten girls in about their mid twenties pulled up to the table behind us. Francois was curious as to how they all knew each other as they all had different accents but were conversing in English. Turned out they were TEFL teachers, on holiday. He’s gas altogether, put a pretty girl in his vicinity and watch him perk up and get all curious. To be fair I’m only jealous as I’d have much preferred if it had been a table full of guys. Not that I would have cared though what brought them together, I’d just have appreciated the view. As it is, there’s not much choice for single eye candy around here, everyone is coupled up.(Well it is a prime honeymoon destination).  Totally depressing!

Made our way back to the guesthouse. Tony had the bright idea that we should re-create a photo from our South American trip, where we all gathered in a circle, placed the camera on the ground and set it to timer. Ahh, reminiscing about good old times. Cracking photo though!

Post-dinner drinks were continued on my veranda. Luckily we managed to find a young lad who worked at the guesthouse hanging out with his friends at the entrance. He was able to re-open the kitchen for us so we could grab our chilled mixers from the fridge. Latest night yet, 1am finish!!
